Planet Promise — Compass Group Global Commitment to Net Zero Greenhouse Gas (GHS) Emissions by 2050
On October 15, 2021, Compass Group announced its Planet Promise commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) by 2050 and our Foodbuy Australia team are both proud and excited to be part of this important journey and in working across our supply chain to deliver this industry-leading program.
Compass Group the world’s largest food services group operates in 45 countries, employs around 550,000 people, serving over 5.5 billion meals a year and is the first international company in the contract catering industry to announce a global commitment to a 2050 Net Zero emissions economy.
In February 2024 Compass Group PLC released the 2023 Sustainability Report, showcasing the progress we are making in
sustainability and the positive impact on the planet supported by our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework
Global Roadmap to Net Zero
More details on the Group’s sustainability strategy and Net Zero priorities to 2030 and beyond can be found in it’s Global Roadmap to Net Zero. It is the Group’s intention to provide an update annually on it’s progress and Roadmap development within its global Sustainability Report, and the group has committed to validating its 2050 Net Zero targets with the SBTi once it’s guidelines are finalised.

To make our Climate Net Zero ambitions a reality, the actions we take over the next decade will be crucial. Which is why we have committed to:

– Climate Net Zero by 2050 across our value chain

– 46% Reduction in Scope 1 & 2 direct emissions
– 28% Reduction in our Scope 3 emissions associated with the food & drink we buy
– 50% Reduction in food waste

- Use more seasonal and locally sourced produce in our restaurants
- Increase the proportion of plant-based products across all of our menus
- Invest in decarbonisation projects that accelerate Net Zero innovation

- Transition global fleet vehicles to 100% plug-in electric
- Switch to renewable electricity across our controlled operations
- Invest in decarbonisation projects that accelerate Net Zero innovation
- Increase sourcing from regenerative agriculture across all key food product categories

- Deliver a global deforestation-free and land conversion-free supply chain strategy
- Work with suppliers to set their own Climate Net Zero and Science Based Targets
