Planet Promise — Compass Group Global Commitment to Net Zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions by 2050
On October 15, 2021, Compass Group announced its Planet Promise commitment to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) by 2050 and our Foodbuy Australia team are both proud and excited to be part of this important journey and in working across our supply chain to deliver this industry-leading program.
Compass Group the world’s largest food services group operates in 45 countries, employs around 550,000 people serving over 5.5 billion meals a year and is the first international company in the contract catering industry to announce a global commitment to a 2050 net zero emissions economy.
In February 2024 Compass Group PLC released the 2023 Sustainability Report, showcasing the progress we are making in sustainability and the positive impact on the planet supported by our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.
“Our Planet Promise is Compass Group’s global commitment to a sustainable future for all. It encompasses our values as an ethical, sustainable and inclusive business, together with our ambition to positively impact the world. There is not one single solution to our shared challenge and we need everyone to do their part.
Our people are making lots of incremental changes across thousands of units and sharing these best practices around the Group.
I am confident that our commitment and thought leadership is inspiring our clients, consumers, employees, and suppliers to help find collective solutions and accelerate delivery to reach climate net zero by 2050.”
~ Dominic Blakemore, Group Chief Executive Officer, Compass Group PLC
“The Planet Promise commitment is an exciting, important and critical global challenge for our industry and our supply chains – both domestic and international. The net-zero journey is central to our WorldFirst™ approach and is founded on our deep belief in the positive influence and responsibility of procurement to meet this challenge. This is our Foodbuy focus in ‘Purpose Driven Procurement’.
We are excited to work in partnership with our clients and our supply partners, taking a lead role and in supporting organisations through a supply chain with shared values, investing in the programs, technologies and innovations that will be key to success in the years to come.”
